We are looking for an exceptional student who is currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, an academic program in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines to consider joining an elite team of their peers at Temple Allen Industries in Rockville, MD. Candidates with a focus on Robotics or Mechatronics or with a second major in Computer Science are particularly encouraged to apply.

The position is eligible for Co-Op credit and we will work with candidates to support them meeting their school’s requirements. Intern positions are also available to recent graduates.

Responsibilities include:
- The applicant will assist in the development and creation of products, materials, processes, or equipment. Under direct supervision/guidance, applicants will gain a hands-on experience for developing and implementing the assembly process for the given design.
- Undertakes and successfully completes simple or basic project/product
- Development of tasks to include any of the following: writing and/or verifying standard operating procedures, maintaining product/process documentation, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product, and validating assembly processes
- May assist in creating approaches for processes and methods
- Designs, procures, and fabricates simple tooling and fixtures
- Designs and coordinates engineering tests and experiments
- Prepares standard documentation to communicate processes/ results to peers and supervisors
- Train technicians/operators on new processes and/or test procedures
- Identifies areas for improvement, suggests solutions, and submits idea records
- May identify alternatives parts to use in products and communicate with vendors
- Coordinate crating and handling
- Reviewing design drawing revisions for changes
- Work with team members to identify and resolve issues
- Material procurement and production tracking
- Perform other duties as requested by management
Key Qualifications include:
- Studying for at least a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a strong academic record
- Hands-on experience in design, component evaluation and selection, design validation and qualification
- SolidWorks knowledge is a plus
- Hands on assembly experience
- Experience working with pneumatics
- Experience working with electronics
- Experience working with shop machines (lathe, drill press, mill)
- Having or wanting to develop genuine leadership skills
- Exhibiting a positive attitude and an inquisitive nature
